Five Gentle Forearm Openings Before Meal Planning
Practice a small unweighted arm opening with elbows near your sides, relaxed shoulders, and a slow return.
Meal planning can keep you seated over a notebook or screen for a while. Before you begin, try a small change of position with this unweighted arm movement. The practice is deliberately simple: elbows stay near your sides while your forearms open a little and return. It is a gentle movement option, not a corrective treatment or a reason to add resistance before you understand the motion.
Choose a clear place to stand with your feet comfortably apart. If sitting feels better, use a stable armless chair with your feet supported. Spend a minute or two walking easily or moving your arms in a relaxed way. Let your shoulders settle and keep your head comfortably above your trunk. There is no need to pull yourself into an exaggerated upright posture.
Bend your elbows to roughly a right angle, keeping them close to your ribs. Let your palms face upward or slightly inward, whichever feels comfortable. Slowly move your hands outward a short distance while your upper arms remain near your sides. Then bring your hands back toward the starting position. Avoid forcing the elbows behind your body or lifting your shoulders to create more movement.
Try five slow repetitions. Keep the range small enough that you can breathe normally and return without a sudden drop. Your wrists should remain comfortable rather than bending sharply to imitate a larger opening. You do not need to reach a particular angle. The photo shows one example of a modest movement, and your appropriate range may be smaller.
For an easier version, practice one arm at a time or move your hands only an inch or two. You can also stop after two repetitions. Do not add a resistance band simply because this resembles an exercise you have seen elsewhere. Stop for pain or unusual symptoms, and follow professional guidance if you have a shoulder injury, recent surgery, or another restriction. This general practice is not intended to treat those conditions.
After the set, let your arms relax by your sides and take a few easy breaths. Repeat the same comfortable version on another day before considering additional repetitions. Notice whether your shoulders stayed relaxed and whether the return felt as controlled as the opening. Those observations are more useful than measuring how far apart your hands traveled or trying to make both sides look perfectly identical.
Then return to planning meals that fit your preferences and needs. A lower-carbohydrate meal can still include variety, but no specific food is required for this brief movement. Keep the meal decision and exercise practice independent. The connection is a familiar cue: before settling into a planning task, make a little room to move. If the day is crowded, five calm repetitions can be the whole movement pause rather than the beginning of a demanding workout.

Keep your elbows close, open only within comfort, and return slowly without added resistance.
