Cherry Cocoa Skyr Smoothie Bowl with Almonds
Blend cherries, plain skyr, and cocoa into a thick smoothie bowl, then add a measured almond topping for a contrasting crunch.
A smoothie bowl uses the same blending idea as a drink but keeps the base thick enough to eat with a spoon. This cherry cocoa version begins with plain skyr and measured fruit, then finishes with a small almond topping. Skyr is the main protein-containing food in the base; the recipe does not rely on a supplement powder. Exact protein content varies by brand and portion, so check your own product if you track nutrients.
For one bowl, measure three quarters cup plain unsweetened skyr, one half cup pitted cherries, one tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder, and two tablespoons milk. For the topping, use one tablespoon sliced almonds and a few cherry halves reserved from the measured fruit. If you avoid almonds, choose a topping you tolerate or omit them. The base remains a complete recipe without a crunchy garnish.
Check the cherries for pits as you portion them. Use fresh washed cherries or frozen fruit according to its package preparation directions. Frozen cherries help create a thicker bowl, but your blender must be designed to handle them. Do not force a machine that is struggling with a solid frozen mass. Let the fruit soften slightly when needed, following the appliance instructions.
Stir cocoa into the milk to form a smooth mixture before adding it to the blender. Add skyr and cherries, reserving any topping pieces first. Blend in short intervals as your machine permits, stopping before scraping down the sides. Add more milk only one teaspoon at a time if needed. A bowl base needs less liquid than a drink, and a large splash can make it difficult to keep toppings on the surface.
Spoon the mixture into a shallow bowl and smooth the top. Scatter the measured almonds over one section and add the reserved cherry halves. There is no need to cover every visible area with granola, nut butter, or extra fruit. A few planned toppings give contrasting textures while keeping the ingredient list understandable and the preparation quick.
Taste the base before deciding whether it needs adjustment. Cocoa can be bitter and cherries can be tart, so start with the stated quantity rather than several heaped spoonfuls. If you prefer a milder version, reduce the cocoa slightly next time. Plain Greek yogurt can replace skyr, but the thickness and nutritional values may differ. Select a version you enjoy rather than assuming every yogurt behaves identically.
Eat soon after blending while the base is cool and thick. Refrigerate leftovers promptly in a covered container and keep crunchy toppings separate if storing. The bowl may become softer as the fruit thaws, which is a texture change rather than a reason to add more dry ingredients automatically. A wellness supplement displayed separately is unrelated to this food recipe and is not an ingredient or a promised source of its benefits.
