Cocoa Raspberry Yogurt Smoothie Without Juice or Syrup
Make a tart cocoa raspberry smoothie with plain yogurt and milk, using measured ingredients instead of juice, syrup, or an oversized topping layer.
Chocolate flavor does not have to mean turning every smoothie into a heavily topped dessert. This cocoa raspberry yogurt smoothie uses unsweetened cocoa powder for its flavor, with raspberries and plain yogurt providing a distinctly tart contrast. The result is intentionally less sweet than a milkshake. It suits a portion-aware approach because the ingredients are measured and the recipe stays easy to repeat, without making a specific calorie claim.
The single-serving recipe
Gather 1/2 cup raspberries, 1/2 cup plain unsweetened yogurt, 1/2 cup cold milk, and 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder. Set aside up to 2 tablespoons cold water to thin the drink if needed. Use fresh washed raspberries or unsweetened frozen raspberries suitable for ready-to-eat use, following the package instructions. The finished color will be muted berry-brown, rather than the bright pink of a fruit-only smoothie.
Mix the cocoa first
Spoon the cocoa into a small cup and stir in a little of the measured milk to make a smooth paste. This step helps prevent dry cocoa pockets from clinging to the sides of the blender. Add the paste, remaining milk, yogurt, and raspberries to the blender. Close the lid and blend until the ingredients look evenly combined. Turn the blender off before checking the texture.
Raspberry seeds may remain noticeable, especially in a smaller blender. That is normal for this recipe. Blend a little longer if your appliance permits it, or choose another recipe if a seeded texture is unpleasant to you. Straining changes the texture and removes some of the fruit solids, so this version is designed to be served without straining. Add a spoonful of reserved water only if the drink is too thick.
Decide what you want from the flavor
Taste a raspberry before blending; very tart berries will produce a tart drink. Plain yogurt also varies in acidity. Choose ingredients you enjoy individually rather than trying to correct an unfamiliar flavor with several extra additions. There is no syrup, juice, chocolate spread, or sweetened cocoa mix in the ingredient list. Adding any of those would change both the flavor and the nutritional composition.
Keep optional extras intentional
A large topping layer can turn a simple glass into a different snack or dessert. If you want a topping, measure it separately and consider it part of what you are eating. You can also enjoy the smoothie exactly as written. Neither the presence of cocoa nor the absence of syrup means the drink automatically produces a calorie deficit; the overall eating pattern matters.
Serve and plan ahead
Measure the cocoa into a small dry container the night before and keep the dairy ingredients refrigerated until blending. Drink the smoothie freshly made for its best consistency. If it waits briefly in the refrigerator, stir it before serving because settling can occur. Lactose-free dairy alternatives may be substituted in the same amounts when suitable. Any separately displayed wellness supplement is unrelated to the blending method and is not required for this recipe or its enjoyment.
