Foot placement can provide a simple reference during a short Pilates practice. In this pair, both feet stay flat while the arms move. After a rest, one heel slides while the other foot remains grounded. The changing task is easy to name, and each part begins from a clear setup. You do not need to combine the arm and leg movements at the same time.
Lie on your back on a nonslip mat with knees bent and feet flat. Choose a comfortable width between the feet and let the arms rest beside you. Settle the head and take two ordinary breaths. Keep the back in an easy starting position without pressing it down forcefully. Make sure there is enough clear space for the arms before you begin.
Raise the arms toward the ceiling and move them a little toward overhead only as far as comfortable. Return gently, then lower them beside you. Try two small arcs while both feet remain flat. Avoid forcing the arms all the way to the floor behind your head. If the shoulders feel strained or the ribs lift noticeably to gain range, make the arc smaller or stop.
Pause with the hands resting. Check that the feet have not crept into an awkward position while your attention was on the arms. You can move them back to a comfortable starting place before the next exercise. A reset is allowed; the setup does not need to remain untouched from the first moment of the session to the last.
Slide one heel slowly away from your body, keeping it in contact with the mat. Leave the opposite foot flat. Stop at a manageable distance, then return the heel to the bent-knee starting position. Try three repetitions on each side with a pause between sides. Full leg straightening is optional, and a short slide can be enough to understand the movement.
Keep the arms resting during the slides and continue normal breathing. You can reduce the count, choose only one part of the pair, or stop after reviewing the setup. End the practice for pain, dizziness, unusual breathlessness, or another concerning symptom. Seek appropriate guidance when an injury, health condition, pregnancy, or recent procedure affects your activity choices.
Finish with both feet flat and give yourself time to get up comfortably. A useful observation is whether checking the feet made the next movement easier to follow. This practice does not need to be balanced against a dessert or used to compensate for eating. It offers no guaranteed weight or shape change. Keep the purpose modest: two separate movement tasks, a clear reference at the feet, and enough room to return to rest whenever that is the better choice.
Both feet settle before the arm arcs begin.
